The practical tip: favor brands with strong local parts availability. That single factor does more to determine your repair experience down the road than almost anything on the spec sheet.

If you're on a well, plan for it. Hard water scales up dishwasher spray arms, washing machine valves, and refrigerator water and ice systems faster than average. Look for models with accessible filters and serviceable valves, add a water softener, and do simple descaling a couple of times a year. We see far fewer premature failures on homes that soften their water, regardless of brand.
