Full time

Senior Appliance Repair Technician

  • Based in Cotati

Diagnose and repair major household appliances in customers’ homes across Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties. Company van, factory training, and a route you can actually finish.

What you will do

  • Diagnose and repair refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, ovens, and dishwashers in customers’ homes
  • Run a daily route from Cotati across Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties in a company van
  • Order and manage parts for your jobs, and carry common stock on the truck so most repairs finish in one visit
  • Document work orders cleanly so the office can bill and follow up
  • Represent a 50 year old family business in people’s kitchens, which matters more than it sounds

What we need

  • Three or more years of hands-on residential appliance repair experience
  • Confident with electrical diagnosis, schematics, and manufacturer diagnostic software
  • Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Able to lift and move appliances safely with a dolly and a second set of hands
  • Comfortable talking to homeowners and explaining what you found in plain language

Nice to have

  • Factory training on Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Bosch, Thermador, Viking, or Dacor

Full time

Sealed System Refrigeration Technician

  • Based in Cotati
  • Company van
  • Sonoma, Marin, and Napa routes

Compressor, evaporator, and sealed system work on residential and built-in refrigeration. Brazing, recovery, and charging, including R600a. This is the specialist role we hire least often and value most.

What you will do

  • Diagnose and repair sealed system failures: compressors, evaporators, condensers, filter driers, and leaks
  • Braze, recover, evacuate, and charge systems to spec, including R600a and R134a
  • Handle the premium built-in units (Sub-Zero, Thermador, Viking, Dacor) that generalists refer out
  • Support the rest of the technician team on refrigeration diagnosis when they hit a wall
  • Keep refrigerant handling and recordkeeping compliant

What we need

  • Proven sealed system experience: you have brazed, recovered, and charged residential refrigeration, not just replaced boards
  • EPA Section 608 certification (Type I at minimum, Universal preferred)
  • Working knowledge of R600a and the safety practices flammable refrigerants require
  • Comfortable with nitrogen purging, vacuum, and micron gauges
  • Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record

Nice to have

  • Factory training on Sub-Zero, Thermador, or Viking refrigeration
  • Experience with variable-speed and inverter compressors
  • Five or more years in the trade

Not every good technician arrives as one. Some of the best people on our team came in with a mechanical mind, a clean driving record, and no appliance experience at all. We paired them with a senior tech, put them through manufacturer training, and a few years later they were the ones training the next person.

Working at Kelly's: common questions

Do I need appliance experience to apply?

For the senior and sealed system roles, yes. For a trainee position, no. We hire people with mechanical aptitude and the right attitude and teach the trade. If you have fixed cars, done HVAC, worked construction, or just take things apart to see how they work, we want to hear from you.

What area would I be working in?

Routes run out of our Cotati shop across Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties. You drive a company van, so you are not putting miles on your own vehicle.

What does the training look like?

New technicians ride along with a senior tech before they run their own route. We are factory authorized for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, JennAir, Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, Viking, Dacor, and InSinkErator, which means manufacturer training and diagnostic software, not just YouTube and guesswork.

Is this a commission job?

No. Technicians are paid for their time, not pushed to upsell. Our reputation depends on customers trusting the diagnosis, and that only works when the tech has no reason to invent problems.
